Communication is present in every facet of our lives, both personal and professional.

Engineers, architects, doctors, business administration graduates, lawyers, teachers, and healthcare technicians will practice their professions in a context that demands a strong ability to communicate, present experiences in public, effectively convey written messages, handle crises, deal with the media, and lead organizations and work teams toward shared goals. They need to be good communicators.

No matter what area you want to dedicate yourself to professionally, if you have an idea but don't know how to express it, you are at the same level as someone who has no idea.

Among the skills developed through training in public speaking and debate are: empathy with one's team and the opponent, sportsmanship, teamwork, development of cooperative work, reading comprehension, oral comprehension and expression, coherence and cohesion in one's discourse, increased vocabulary, stepping outside one's comfort zone, use of ICT for information retrieval, promotion of critical thinking, active search for information sources, development of self-confidence and independent judgment, ability to synthesize information, mental speed and acuity, etc.

Our Early Childhood Education Project – English and Spanish – is based on the development of five active principles that make learning possible.
These principles are based on the brain's executive functions, which are "complex mental activities necessary to plan, organize, guide, review, regulate, and evaluate the behavior needed to adapt effectively to the environment and to achieve goals" (Bauermeister, 2008).

El Lope de Vega Debate ClubIt is an entity within the school with its own personality, with activities, content and aims and objectives to promote and encourage the development of communication skills among students so that they are increasingly prepared to face all the professional challenges that they will begin to face in less and less time.

Its origin: the 2019/2020 academic year

On Lope de Vega International School  We offer three levels for public speaking training: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

What are the differences between the different levels?
It begins at the basic level with elementary aspects for any communicative act, referring to two fundamental blocks, plus a third: first, the construction of the message; and second, its execution.

In the third section, additional tools and support.

At the first level, in addition to understanding the communication process in general, the objective is to overcome stage fright, build self-confidence, and ensure that students have fun while learning.

Once stage fright is overcome and the form is mastered, work is done on the content (argumentation, storytelling, emotional communication) and non-verbal communication.

Remember that in addition to the extracurricular public speaking activity, within the activities of debate club The school participates in national debate tournaments.

Diego Rubio Domingo In its basic manual of university debate, it defines academic debate as a dialectical and formal confrontation between two teams of students about a current question, after prior study and research work on the positions for and against, which are drawn shortly before the start of each debate.

A jury, made up of professionals who understand the subject and experts in public speaking, chooses a winner minutes after each encounter. The debate Academic learning should never be seen as an end in itself, but as a means to learn how to communicate effectively, persuade, listen, engage in dialogue, acquire research skills and teamwork abilities; and gain professional skills that we can apply in our daily lives to serve others, giving the best of ourselves.

The competition, in the form of the various national debate tournamentsIt is the right tool to achieve this, since without effort and work, mistakes from which to learn will never be made.

The debate club organizes a tournament thanks to which the school is headquarters of a debate tournament, which will be attended by teams from educational centers in the province of Alicante.
