Lope de Vega wins award in the “Women in Chemistry” Competition

Lope de Vega International School awarded in the recent “Women in Chemistry” Competition.

On May 9th, the awards ceremony for the “Women in Chemistry” Competition, organized by the Association of Chemists and the Illustrious Official College of Chemists of the Valencian CommunityThis competition aims to give visibility to the role of women in the field of Chemistry, recognizing both professionals who have been publicly highlighted and those who have contributed anonymously.

Students from Lope de Vega, led by their teacher, participated in this competition by submitting proposals to the different categories. Participation proved to be a very enriching experience for the students, as it allowed them to research the lives of women who played a significant role in the history of chemistry and learn about the obstacles they had to overcome to have their work recognized.

A competition that brings together students from all over Spain

This year's competition saw the participation of over 500 students from across Spain. Lope de Vega International School presented the work of seven teams comprised of students from 4th year of ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education) and 2nd year of Bachillerato (Upper Secondary Education), with three teams reaching the finals in the poster category and one in the video category. One of our teams won an award for one of the five best posters in the competition.

From the scientific-mathematical field we encourage student participation with a dual purpose: on the one hand, to bring female students closer to female role models in the world of science, and on the other hand, to awaken scientific vocations in both them and them.
